we have never been taught.
the whiplash from sudden changing seasons battered us, our cautious and weak branches.
we were never given the answers
to the questions we learnt to stop forming.
so when we finally can, we grow wild in solitude.
’do not close this distance’
we will do as we have always done,
like waves upon the rocks,
we push and pull,
you and I will do as we have always done,
we will follow our same moon.
until one day, clarity like crystal lake water lapping gently at our shores,
bringing us unto ourselves,
into the realisation that we
are evergreen.
